Back on the Saddle

20120104-122014.jpg

It’s official, I’m back on the saddle! And, oh how I missed it!

I had to search high and low for my cycleOPs trainer last night, but I finally found it and dusted it off. Grabbed my girl, Maddie, and hooked her in.

I was ready to rock and roll, ‘er SPIN!

Workout tonight, from Coach Daryl was:

**30 min easy spin
**5 x 1 min hard with 2 min rest
**15 min easy spin

It’s good to have my bike back where it belongs … in the middle of my living room!

Weeks 5, 6, 7

Hooray for some blogging time!  FINALLY!

The last three weeks have been awesome training weeks, but have been incredibly busy with work, family, prepping for Christmas, parties, etc.  I am happy to have only missed ONE (count it ONE) bike ride/run during these three weeks!  I have felt good, my swimming has improved slightly (I think), and my waist line has been thanking me for my efforts (especially since there are so many treats at work and parties).

Here is a rough outline of  my Weekly Training:

MONDAY:  Swim (3 x 100 warm-up, 16 x 25 intervals with 20 sec rest, followed by continuous 200, 2 min rest, repeat intervals and 200, and 2 x 100 cool down)

TUESDAY:  Long Run (about an hour)  Slow easy heart rate pace.

WEDNESDAY:  Bike (trainer with intervals) for one hour, followed by a 15-30 minute run.

THURSDAY:  Rest

FRIDAY:  Swim (35-40 x 50 with 10 sec rest)

SATURDAY: Bike/Run (bike 60 min road, followed by 30 min run with intervals)

SUNDAY:  Long Bike/Run (bike 2 hours, followed by 30 min run)

Lora and I are great training buds!  She is able to do it all, whether it’s at 4:30 am or late at night.  She’s a great inspiration!!

Merry Christmas to all!!

What’s that you say?

Maddie:  I wish you’d take a break.  You can ride me tomorrow, or Saturday, or Sunday.

Me:  You sure Maddie?  I’m supposed to do 40 minutes with you tonight.

Maddie:  Yep, go have some wine and relax.

Me:  Okay then! (twist my arm)

Me to treadmill (the Precor):  You good with taking a break too?

Precor:  Go have some wine.

Am I really talking to my equipment? ….

Yes, I am.  And, it worked.  Wine in hand.  Good night.

Maddie

Meet Maddie.  She is no ordinary bike, she is a Trek Madone 4.5 wsd.  She is built for speed and responsiveness to the road.  With a light blue and white carbon frame, she not only is stylish, she makes her rider look great as well! 😉  Just recently, Maddie got a style makeover and is rocking a new set of aero bars.  Her rider doesn’t quite know what to do with them yet.

Maddie wonders, do you have a name for your bike?
